YouTube Profile Picture Downloader

View and download any YouTube channel's profile picture in full size. Paste a channel link or @handle to get the original channel icon.

How to download a YouTube profile picture

  1. Copy the channel link. Open the channel and copy its URL, or just note its @handle.
  2. Paste it above. ThumbDL finds the channel and loads its profile picture at the largest size YouTube has.
  3. Choose a size and download. Save the original, or a smaller square version for icons and lists.

On YouTube, profile pictures are cropped to a circle and shown as small as 36 pixels, so it's hard to see them properly. ThumbDL shows the full square image instead.

YouTube profile picture size

If you're making your own channel icon, YouTube recommends:

  • 800 × 800 pixels, square. It's displayed as a circle at 98 × 98, so keep important details away from the corners.
  • JPG, PNG, BMP or GIF (animated GIFs aren't supported).

Uploaded icons are often resized by YouTube, so the downloaded original may be smaller than 800 × 800. For banners and thumbnails, see the YouTube image size guide.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see a YouTube profile picture in full size?

Paste the channel's link or @handle into ThumbDL. The full-size square profile picture appears instantly, and you can download it in one click.

Can I download my own YouTube profile picture?

Yes. Paste your own channel link to recover your current channel icon at the largest size YouTube stores.

Why is the downloaded image not 800×800?

YouTube keeps profile pictures at the size they were uploaded, up to its own limits. If the creator uploaded a smaller image, the original download will be that smaller size.

Can I use someone's YouTube profile picture?

Profile pictures often contain logos, artwork or photos of real people. Use them for reference only, and ask the creator before reusing one anywhere public.
